Celebrate the 4th of July At These Capital Region Fireworks Shows

It's time to start planning to celebrate America's 246th Birthday.

One of the great freedoms we enjoy as Americans is our ability to form our own opinions on anything. And another great freedom is being able to freely express those opinions. That freedom of expression is one of the things that creates a set of opinions in our nation that is just as diverse as our citizens.

Even with all that diversity of opinion, there are some areas of common ground we all agree on that are a shared thread between us all. Our shared appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy is one of those areas of common ground. And that to me is what the 4th is all about. We celebrate the birth of a nation based on unalienable rights for all.

That is why the 4th is such a big deal to all of us, and also why maintaining the tradition of witnessing the "rockets red glare" and "bombs bursting in air" that brought us all those freedoms.
