There is some happy news and some sad news making my Taste of Country music news today.  Blake Shelton tweeted details of the tour he’ll be headlining in January.  The tour is called “Well Lit and Amplified” and will have Justin Moore and Dia Frampton, from the “The Voice” opening for him.  The tour starts out in Toledo, Ohio and hits 27 cities total.  Full details are at his website..

Scotty McCreery’s debut album is in stores today.  The album is called “Clear As Day.”  He’s been a pretty guy since earning the title of the “American Idol.”  Scotty will be turning 18 on Sunday, October 9th.  He says his album definitely has a good mixture of the influences he grew up with like Conway TwittyMerle Haggard and Hank Williams.

Martina McBride will be turning the Empire State Building down in New York “pink” on October 14th.  She will physically pull a switch that turns the entire landmark pink to help spread awareness about breast cancer.  She will also perform a show which is actually heading to eleven cities in promotion of her latest album entitled, “Eleven.”

Trisha Yearwood is still grieving and probably will be for a long time.  Her mother, Gwen Yearwood, lost her battle with cancer this past weekend.  The 73-year old was the co-author with Trisha on two different cooking books: "Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen: Recipes From My Family to Yours" and "Home Cooking With Trisha Yearwood: Stories and Recipes to Share with Family and Friends."  No further details on services have been released or posted.
