Approved! Monumental Step Forward to Downtown Troy’s Development [PICS]
Revitalization is one step closer to the development of One Monument Square in downtown Troy. Finally, after many denials, the town planning board has approved some of the development.
What Has The Planning Board Approved?
There is a lot of development slated for One Monument Square in downtown Troy but this past week one part was approved. It was the six-story building near One Monument Square that will include ninety-two apartments for a total of one hundred and ten bedrooms.
There will be retail and commercial space on the ground floor totalling 19,890 square feet. Plus a double deck underground parking garage that will have 115 parking spaces. Included is also a public plaza that will have seating areas, beautiful landscaping with views of the Hudson River.
Where is the Space that is Being Proposed?
The space is at One Monument Square where the old City Hall once stood. It is located downtown between River Street and the Hudson River. City Hall had been torn down over a decade ago. It also lies in the area of the old municipal parking garage. Crews have been removing the staircase and demolishing the parking garage. The City of Troy is almost done with preparing the site. They are moving a water pip, extending a sewer line, and demolishing the rest of the old parking garage according to Albany Business Review.
These are some of the renderings of what the entire project for One Monument Square will look like when all of the projects are approved and built.
