Albany Fireworks TONIGHT To Mark Lifting of COVID Restrictions
Governor Cuomo announced today that New York hit the vaccination threshold to start pulling back most COVID restrictions.
It is a day we have been looking forward to for almost a year and a half, and there will be fireworks at the Empire State Plaza tonight to celebrate it. The Governor tweeted today that 70% of New York state adults have been vaccinated and that "...effective immediately, state-mandated COVID restrictions are lifted across most social settings."
The Governor also announced to celebrate there will fireworks displays at ten locations across the state, including the Empire State Plaza in Albany, at 9:15pm TONIGHT.
According to CBS 6, the restrictions being lifted "...include(s) capacity and social gathering restrictions, as well as health screening regulations." So places like movie theaters, retail stores, gyms, restaurants, and more will return to normal operation. There are a few exceptions as Rochester First says Federal guidelines will remain in place. These include guidance for larger events/venues, schools, public transportation, and healthcare facilities, plus unvaccinated individuals must also still social distance and wear a mask.
