
Capital Region Dollar General Store To Be Affected By Nationwide Closings
A local Dollar General store will be among the almost 100 locations closing this spring.
Over the last few months, we have not been able to escape the continuous reports of store closings in the retail sector.
Late last week, we shared the news that Dollar General had revealed plans to close nearly 100 stores nationwide. The closings represent a very small percentage of the 20,000+ locations in the United States and are part of a "foundational" financial tune-up. While it does not operate any stores in New York state, the closings will also affect 45 Popshelf stores also operated by Dollar General).
At the time, no details were announced on specific store closings and if any of the 597 New York State stores would be affected. Accoding to a News 10 report, they will affect at least one Capital Region Dollar General location.
Which Capital Region Dollar General Is Closing?
News 10 confirmed Friday that the Dollar General store at 310 South Pearl Street in Albany will close by the end of April, according to a company spokesperson. No other local closings were confirmed, and employees at the South Pearl location will have the choice to transfer to another local Dollar General store.
