After 6 yrs Popular Albany Chicken Joint & Eatery Will Close
A popular Albany restaurant is up for sale and will close soon. It wasn't an easy decision for the owners, but they say they are doing it to focus on their other restaurants. Capital Region residents will surely miss their amazing fried chicken and all of their dishes.
After Six Years, The Cuckoo's Nest Will Close
The Cuckoo's Nest on Western Avenue in Albany is for sale and the owners will close the eatery after the sale goes through. Kaytrin Ziemann and her husband Davis have owned The Cuckoo's Nest since 2017 and they are planning to focus on their restaurants in Schenectady.
The owners felt they weren't giving the proper time to The Cuckoo's Nest and it took them some time to decide to close. According to News 10 ABC, the owners said,
We’re in Schenectady all the time and don’t give The Cuckoo’s Nest our attention. It’s not fair to that space.
What Other Restaurants Are They Focusing On?
The Nest in Schenectady is owned by the Ziemanns and they have been working for two and a half years on their new restaurant Mila Restaurant & Bar on State Street. They are hoping to open Mila in the spring of 2024.
Mila Restaurant & Bar will be different from The Nest and The Cuckoo's Nest. While those two restaurants serve southern cuisine, Mila will be a Mediterranean eatery.
The plan is to open Mila Restaurant & Bar around the time when The Cuckoo's Nest officially closes. This way they can have all of the Cuckoo's Nest employees move over to Mila. They hope to open Mila sometime in April or May of 2024.
