After 47 Yrs Popular Schenectady Lounge Permanently Closing
This establishment opened back in 1976 and has been a family-owned staple in Schenectady for close to fifty years. This past week, they made the difficult decision to close.
The Horses Lounge to Close
Christian Fritzen the owner of The Horses Lounge in Schenectady announced the closing on their Facebook page on June 21st. It read in part,
The last few years have been physically and mentally draining for me. The time has come to focus on my health and mental well-being, along with my overall happiness. It is with an extremely heavy heart that I am announcing our closure effective June 30th, 2023.
Fritzen's dad, Fred, and his wife Gladys opened The Horses Lounge back in 1976. Gladys passed away in 2002 and Fred ran the lounge until he had some health issues. and Christian moved back to Schenectady in 2014 to care for his dad and run the business. Fred passed away in 2021.
Christian added on The Horses Lounge Facebook page,
I would like to thank all of our loyal customers and staff, both past and present, for making The Horses Lounge what it has become today. They say all good things must come to an end. While we say goodbye for now, it is my hope it is not goodbye forever.
The remaining balance of all of your “Wall of Hope” gift card and meal donations will be converted to cash and donated to Schenectady’s City Mission.
When Will The Horses Lounge Close?
The Horses Lounge will close on June 30th. It is located at 912 McClellan Street. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Thursday from 4 pm until 10 pm and Friday and Saturday from 4 pm until midnight.
