After 40 Years, An Albany Area Business Is Closing
A local business that opened in 1974 will be closing their doors.
Capitol Matress & Waterbed
On Monday, it was announced that Capitol Mattress And Waterbed on Route 9 in Latham will close for good in March, 2015.
Steve Califano is the owner, and the man that you probably have seen. He does the television commercials for the business. He says that it’s getting more difficult to compete with regional chain stores and big box stores. He also knows that most of them probably have unlimited resources. That’s in addition to seeing a lot of new regional chain stores being built all over the Capital Region.
According to the story from WNYT, to help liquidate their merchandise, in January, Capitol Mattress will begin to have a ‘Big Retirement Sale’.
