A different site will host mobile testing each day Monday - Friday.

Starting today, there will be daily mobile coronavirus testing sites in Schenectady. According to a News 10 report, they will be open this week at the following locations from 9am to Noon and 1pm to 5pm (Walk-ins must arrive by 4:30pm):

  • Monday: Ellis’ McClellan campus
  • Tuesday: Mont Pleasant Middle School, 1121 Forest Road
  • Wednesday: Washington Irving Education Center, 422 Mumford Street
  • Thursday: TBD based on demand
  • Friday: Ellis’ McClellan campus

News 10 says these sites are intended to help those who may not have easy access to tests and that "Tests will be offered to people showing symptoms, regardless of whether they have insurance, made an appointment, have a prescription, or work in a high-risk field."

First and foremost, it is good to see those who may need to get tested will now have better access to testing. The toughest part of folks having symptoms is not knowing what they could be dealing with so they can properly treat themselves. Better access to testing will hopefully help folks get better quickly, and also allow them to quarantine themselves.

Governor Cuomo has also stated several times over the coming weeks that expanded testing needs to be the focus in the coming weeks as the state looks to re-open. I would imagine we will be seeing many mobile sights like this continuing to open in the near future.
