5 Capital Region Commercials to Make You Feel Like a Kid Again [WATCH]
Growing up in the Capital Region, whether watching Saturday morning cartoons or family friendly prime time TV, you could always count on those commercials for kids. How many of these do you remember?
1. Catskill Game Farm
Who could ever forget that jingle! Catskill Game Farm operated from 1933 up until 2006. It's been shuttered ever since with some plans to use the property as an RV campground. An inn is located on the site and many relics of the old game farm can still be found throughout the property.
2. Gaslight Village
An amusement park in Lake George that was opened in 1959 and stayed open until 1989 when it was rebranded as Lake George Action Park. Today the land is now known as the Charles R. Wood Park, a nature preserve.
3. Duane's Toyland
Before Toys R Us, Walmart and Target, we had local toy stores like Duane's Toyland. There were two locations in the Capital Region, Westgate Plaza and on State Street in Schenectady.
4. Waterslide World
Talk about unforgettable jingles, this one still resonates today. Waterslide World in Lake George was an annual destination for so many from the Capital Region and well beyond. And every summer you could count on hearing the Waterslide World song on TV. Wild You Bet!
5. Storytown USA
Before it was the Great Escape, it was Storytown USA. Opening in 1954 it operated as Storytown until 1983 when it officially changed its name to The Great Escape. A few of the Storytown attractions can still be found today at the Great Escape.
