You probably heard Sean, Richie and I talking about the secret to a good marriage this weekend on our Saturday show.

And, you probably know that over the past few weeks, there's been a lot of hype in the media about the "dad bod."  Which is basically the idea that women are cool with men letting themselves go once they're married with kids.

Well, a new study just threw that out the window.

Researchers at Yale University just found that the key to a good marriage is . . . a man who DOESN'T let himself go. Uh oh!

They found that married women are much less likely to be depressed if their husband regularly works out . . . even if THEY never work out themselves.  Wait, what?

Men who exercised also were happier than men who didn't.

For whatever reason, when women worked out, it didn't have any effect on the happiness of a marriage. (No!)

The researchers' theory here is that exercise has a stronger positive psychological effect on men than women.  And since it makes men feel so good, that happiness rubs off on their wives.

Well, I agree to a certain extent, but isn't everyone happier when they get exercise?  I love a "dad bod" but I also want a husband who will be healthy enough to stick around for the long run, and strong enough to, well... you know...

Plus, I feel better about myself when I take care of myself, and I have to assume that marriage is better when no one lets themselves go, right?

That being said, girls, this should give you the confidence to know that even if you have a little more cushion for the pushin' than you did when you got married, it's okay!! ;-)
