I though I had heard of everything, but apparently not. There is a new very dangerous form on pranking people online called “swatting” and a local 12 year old boy was a victim of it.  What is “swatting?” “Swatting” apparently is when someone online uses Skype to place a phony 911 call and can trick the 911 system in believing that it is a real and local call. The nature of these calls are so graphic and horrible that it literally makes law enforcement agencies send out a literal “SWAT” (Special Weapons and Tactics) team to respond. According to this story, a 12 -year-old boy was the victim of “swatting” by someone he met playing X-box online. Colonie Police were sent on a goose chase to 3 different locations. The person who allegedly made the false “swatting” call used the name “Mio”. The FBI is now involved in the investigation.
