It's a very exciting day in the Capital Region. This one's going to go down in history no matter how it turns out. It's theTRAVERS!  I just had to write a little ditty about it.   Apologies to Kenny Chesney for borrowing his song.

Triple Crown winner American Pharaoh is about to make his debut in Saratoga tomorrow and I'm psyched, even though I never got a ticket - did you? Very jealous, to say the least.

I've heard from many very devoted horse racing fans that Saratoga ranks up there with the most beautiful racetracks in the entire country.  We don't know how lucky we are to have it right in our neighborhood.

That being said, I just had to create a little ditty for this historic event. I took the Kenny Chesney hit "American Kids" and fiddled with the lyrics a bit.  This is what I came up with.  (Lyrics below)

Excitement up ahead

I love this little thoroughbred

saturday's gonna be fun
he only gets the best
he didn't fly southwest
he took air horse one
I just called my bookie
he's lives out of town
I told the guy on the phone
I'm taking out a loan
for this horse that won the triple crown
He run Belmont Park Monmouth Park Oaklawan Pimlico
bookie said of course bet on on any other horse or you won't win too much dough
the odds are 1-5 that's a bunch of jive
it don't matter anyway
It really makes me sick cuz I didn't get a ticket
so I'll be staying home Saturday
the only big excitement I'm getting
is watching on TV at off track betting
If he wins on Saturday nite
it'll still make history and that's alright
