A portion of the Glens Falls Civic Center collapsed today.

Officials say a build up of snow and ice is the cause of the collapse.  Safety crews are at the scene evaluating the situation. There are High School Section II tournament games scheduled for tonight, these will be played at an alternate location TBD.

This statement is being released: The Glens Falls Civic Center is closed until further notice because of the impact of ice and snow accumulations on the roof of the building. Additionally, a portion of Oakland Ave. immediately adjacent to the Civic Center is closed.  All section II high school basketball tournament games scheduled for the Civic Center will be relocated to an alternate venue that has yet to be determined. Additional information will be available as the situation is assessed and new facts become known.

Stay tuned for more updates!
