Despite having a fast car, Jeff Gordon's chase for the NASCAR championship got off to a bad start last weekend at Chicagoland with a 35th place finish after wrecking with about 80 laps to go.  So Gordon is looking to bounce back at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend and is off to a good start after qualifying for the pole starting position.

Gordon set fast time at NHMS's "Magic Mile" with a speed of 134.911 mph just beating out Kyle Busch and defending Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart.  Gordon is currently ranked 12th in the driver standings among the 12 drivers vying for the championship this year.  Current points leader Brad Keselowski qualifed 15th for Sunday's race.

Here are the starting positions in Sunday's race for the other drivers in the Chase:  Kasey Kahne-6th, Martin Truex Jr.-9, Clint Bower-12th, Greg Biffle-13th, Dale Earnhardt Jr.-14th, Kevin Harvick-16th, Jimmie Johnson-20th, Matt Kenseth-25th, and Denny Hamlin-32nd.

Here is the complete starting lineup.
