Local Race Driver Sean Corr Honored

Local race driver Sean Corr was honored earlier this week by United Way of Long Island with the Live United Pioneer Vision Award.  Corr, driver of the Empire Racing No. 82 Ford received the award for showcasing the Live United marketing campaign that has been a huge success.

Talladega Is Dale Jr’s Playground – Will He Win Sunday?

NASCAR is in Alabama this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.  The 2.66 mile speedway is the largest oval that the Sprint Cup Series drivers tackle and Dale Earnhardt Jr. has five wins there.  But it's been a long time since Junior has won.

NASCAR Visits the Lone Star State

NASCAR heads to Texas this weekend.  Friday night qualifying found Martin Truex, Jr.  setting fast time, winning the pole for Saturday night's Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.  Truex turned a qualifying speedway of 190.369 mph in his Michael Watrip-owned Toyota.  Last year's winner, Matt Kenseth will start second.

Terry Bradshaw’s Daughter Rachel Signs Record Deal

I love it when the son or daughter of a major sports star tries their hand at singing professionally.  Especially when they try country music.  Football legend Terry Bradshaw's daugher is the latest to give it a try.

Kasey Kahne Fast At Martinsville

One of NASCAR's oldest continuously-operating race tracks is running this weekend- Martinsville Speedway in Virginia.  The first NASCAR-sanctioned race at Martinsville was held back in 1948.  It

actually started as a dirt track, but was paved in 1955.  Fifty-six different drivers have won pole qualifying positions in NASCAR's top division over the years.  For Sunday's race, Hendrick Motorsports driver Kasey Kahne will be on the pole.

Texas City Manager Fires Himself

Over the last few years we have all lived through some bad economic news in one way or another. Hopefully, things are starting to turn around, and in some areas the economic picture beginning to look a little brighter, but certainly not everywhere. Budgets continue to be tight in a tough economy (especially in local government), but here is something you don't typically see- a manager firing himself.

Danica Patrick To Race On Dirt

Dancia Patrick is now a full-time NASCAR driver in the Nationwide Series.  She is also racing part-time in the Sprint Cup Series this year for her team owner Tony Stewart. Prior to coming to NASCAR, Patrick was an IndyCar Series racer, but she has never raced on dirt before. Well, almost never.

Pettitte Heading Back To Yankees

I just heard that Andy Pettitte announced on Friday that he is ending his retirement and is heading back to the New York Yankees.  So to confirm, I headed to the Yankees website and there it was:  Pettitte comes out of retirement, joins Yanks.

NASCAR Points Leader Will Start From Pole at Bristol

Greg Biffle has started the 2012 NASCAR season very consistently.  Three great third-place finishes in a row in the first three NASCAR races of season.  That consistency has taken Biffle to the top of the Sprint Cup Series point standings.  Now he will start from the number one starting spot at Bristol Motor Speedway as he qualified for the pole in Sunday's Food City 500 race.
