Headlines:

2010-  Taylor Swift wins four Grammy Awards.  "Fearless" wins Album of the Year and Best Country Album and "White Horse" earns Best Country Female Vocal and Best Country Song.

2006-  The Johnny Cash movie "Walk The Line" receives five Oscar nominations, with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon up for best actor and actress.   On the same show, Dolly Parton's "Travellin' Thru," from "Transamerica," is nominated for best original song.  Dolly surprises conservative fans by singing and writing the Oscar Nominated theme song for a movie about the life and struggles of a Transexual.  Dolly was nominated in the same category in 1981 for writing the title theme to the movie "9 to 5."

1977-  Loretta Lynn wins two trophies at the American Music Awards.  Johnny Cash becomes the first country artist to win the Award of Merit.  Other winners from that night included Conway Twitty, Charley Pride, Glen Campbell and Willie Nelson.
