Last week, I told you about an Albany man that tried to steal a couple of televisions from the Rensselaer Walmart, and now there was another attempt to do it again. This time there were three men involved, but only one television. Just a little side note - The Rensselaer Walmart is a store that is always open. From a press release from The East Greenbush Police Department, early Tuesday morning, January 29, 2013, two men went into the Walmart, and went to the electronics department about 3:00 a.m. Another waited outside in a pick up truck. The two men took a 47 inch tv, and walked out of the store with it. Of course they didn’t pay for it. They put the television in the pick up truck, where the other guy was waiting.

Some of the store employees followed the men out of the store, and tried to stop them, without success. The employees called 911. That’s when an all-points bulletin alerted all of the Albany area police agencies. Within a few minutes, just down the road, a North Greenbush Police officer saw the truck and tried to pull it over. They just kept driving, and continued into Troy. That’s when the Troy Police were notified. They made the truck stop on Campbells Avenue, but the men ran from their truck, and went into the nearby woods. The Troy Police chased them on foot, and within a few minutes, caught them.

That’s when Michael J. Lezette, Jeffrey A. Morgan and his brother Scott E. Morgan were taken into custody and charged with petit larceny. Scott Morgan, who was driving, also had traffic and vehicle charges. All three men were arraigned by East Greenbush Town Justice Kevin Engle, with bail set at $3500. The Morgan brothers were sent to Rensselaer County Jail. Lezette had an outstanding warrant in Troy. He was turned over to the Troy Police. They all have a court date on Valentine’s Day.
