Top 5 Sporting Events At TU Center

The Albany Devils might be playing their last games at the Times Union Center, but it was announced on ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team earlier this week that a few new sports teams will be calling Albany their home. Capital Region sports fans have been lucky to witness some awesome sports moments at the TU Center that were big stories here locally and nationally. Which ones are your favorites?

I've often heard that Albany never 'supports it's teams' and that's why we lose all of our franchises. While that's certainly a debatable topic, there's been no shortage of great sporting events held at the TU Center in the last 20 years. Here are the top 5 events I've witnessed personally:

#5 2001 NCAA Frozen 4 Championship
#4 River Rats/Red Wings rivalry in the late 90's
#3 2002 Siena Saints magical run to NCAA tournament with a 16-18 record
#2 1999 Albany Firebirds Arena Bowl Championship
#1 2003 Syracuse Orange Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games at TU Center.
