New York - The Public Employees Federation and Governor Cuomo announced a tentative agreement Sunday.  While PEF will consider the new agreement later today, the agreement could help avoid 3,496 layoffs.  Those layoffs are scheduled for this coming Wednesday but would be postponed until November 4th if PEF’s 56,000 members ratify the agreement.

Albany - Albany County lawmakers are trying to find ways to keep certain programs within the county and avoid Executive Neil Breslin’s proposed 19.2 percent property tax increase for the 2012 budget.  The Democrats have already said eliminating mental heath programs and entire agencies, such as the Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center, are not a possibility.

Amsterdam - Police in Amsterdam are looking for a suspect that robbed the Dollar General store on Guy Park Avenue.  The suspect is described as a white male in dark clothing.  Apparently, he implied that he had a gun and made off with an unknown amount of cash.  The robbery happened around 4pm Sunday.  Anyone with information, please call police at 518-842-1100.
