Governor Cuomo is expected to give an update on the state's casinos this week.

It is one of the last things to get the go-ahead to reopen: casinos in New York. It looks like this week we could have a plan when that will happen. According to a New York Upstate story, Governor Cuomo will have a casino and racino update this week. Casinos run by Native American nations have already reopened. The New York Upstate story says 5,000 jobs are on the line as part of the casino reopening plan.

At this point, if we can socially distance and be safe in malls, gyms, restaurants and big box stores, we should be able to do the same at casinos. Like everything else, casinos will have capacity restrictions that should make keeping a safe distance in pubic completely achievable.

First and foremost, it will be great getting all of these casino employees back to work. Plus, we will get the added benefit of a little more normalcy here in the Capital Region as our recreational options continue to return.
