Nashville Songwriters Share Songs By Local Veterans TONIGHT In Schenectady
Country music and some local Capital Region Veterans come together for a special live performance.
We know you love Country music, and supporting our local military service men and women, and Veterans. That is why you will not want to miss a special event taking place at Frog Alley Brewing in Schenectady tonight.
Operation Song will be having a special live performance featuring Nashville songwriters at 6:30 pm tonight at Frog Alley Brewing Company in Schenectady. The organization's website says its mission is to ".. empower veterans, active-duty military members, and their families to tell their stories through the process of songwriting. Those we serve need no musical or writing skills, only a willingness to share their stories and, with the help of professional songwriters, transform them into song."
I spoke with US Army Veteran and Operation Song Executive Director Mike Byer who is an alumni of the program, and described the experience as a great way to honor our veterans and give them a therapeutic and positive way to talk about things that may be hard for others to relate to.
Country music and these stories are a truly powerful combination, and you can see these songs co-written by local Capital Region Veterans from their own personal experiences. All tickets from tonight's event will benefit Operation Song and can be purchased online here.
