Jennifer Nettles Suffers a Broken Rib After Stage Fall
Oh no! Jennifer Nettles is suffering from a broken rib after falling off the stage at a recent show in New York.
The New York Post reports that the Sugarland star tripped over a light fixture as she made her way to the stage at the Hammerstein Ballroom for a corporate gig on Thursday (May 4). Nettles knew she had broken her rib immediately after the fall and was rushed to the hospital soon after.
In a series of tweets, Nettles reveals that this is the first time she's fallen off stage in her more than two decade career. Nettles was scheduled to take participate in show on Thursday morning for Time, Inc's presentation to advertisers before the fall. "Hi loves. Thanks for all your kind wishes. Broken rib and banged up, but grateful. Maybe slowly moving for a bit. But I'll rally," she writes in one tweet after her visit at the hospital.
Nettles took a break from her work with country duo Sugarland in 2013 to focus on her solo career, which warranted her most recent album, Playing with Fire, that debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and rounded out the top 10 on the all-genre Billboard 200. She's also dipped into the acting pool, portraying the role of Dolly Parton's mother Avie Lee Owens in the two made-for-TV films, Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors and Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.
“I wanted to take a chance and to see what I would create from a solo perspective and to offer my fans a little bit more of an intimate look at who I am as an artist," she says in an interview about going solo. "And so consequently I have felt super liberated by it."
