
A Rare World War I Artifact Stolen, Help NY State Police Track It Down
Sound the alarms! New York State Police are searching for the individual or individuals that may be involved in the theft of a World War 1 air raid alarm horn.
Take a look at the pictures below and keep an eye out for this World War 1 artifact that went missing in Oneida County sometime in January. World War I air raid horn artifacts, such as a 1908 British Klaxon Zeppelin alarm, were vital warning devices designed to alert citizens and troops to incoming enemy aircraft.

On Friday February 27th, according to a press release, New York State Troopers in Old Forge, received a report of stolen property on Bridge Road in the town of Forestport, NY. The investigation determined the incident occurred sometime between mid January and late February 2026.

An original 1908 World War I British Klaxon Zeppelin Air Raid Alarm Horn with a London address, army green in color, had been attached to a wooden porch pillar at the residence.
New York State Troopers are looking for an unknown individual who allegedly used a bladed device to cut out a portion of the wooden pillar in order to remove the horn. The horn and the section of wooden pillar were stolen from the property.
