Here's What To Expect from TSA at Albany International Airport

As we head into nicer weather many of us are also planning on escaping the Capital Region for some much deserved rest and relaxation. The only thing that might be a problem currently is that Government Shutdown that has TSA workers at airports around the country working unpaid.

This has lead to some seriously long security wait times at several different airports. Here in the Capital Region we have access to Albany International Airport. Could we see the same thing happen there? I reached out to the airport directly to find out exactly what travelers should expect upon arriving to ALB.

From Matt Hunter, Director of Communications at Albany International Airport:

We’ve been very fortunate in Albany. I just spoke with the supervisor of our TSA checkpoint, and we have not seen abnormal employee absence rates or longer wait times. That’s consistent with what we saw during the last government shutdown in the fall, but we are no less grateful for the continued dedication and professionalism of our TSA officers, especially during these challenging circumstances.

This is good news to hear, especially if you do have some spring travel plans coming up. The weather is already unpredictable enough, a long wait time at security could cause chaos for you.

Hunter also added that travelers should always plan ahead before they get to the airport. "Passengers should arrive at least two hours before departure and make parking or transportation arrangements in advance."

With more people traveling lately I agree with what he says here. Even without a government shutdown the wait times at security could be long no matter what.
