July 4, 2026 officially marks 250 years of independence for the United States of America. There are a number of ways New Yorkers can display pride for our nation. Many choose to fly 'Old Glory' from the front porch while others simply dress in red, white, and blue. What about your vehicle?

New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announced America's 250th Anniversary Custom License Plate, available now. Take a look at it below.

New York's custom picture license plates are available for many organizations, hobbies, and causes, in addition to New York State regions and sports teams! Now we have the America 250 edition of the picture plate.

The America's 250th Anniversary custom plate fee varies if the plate number is assigned by DMV ($60) or if you personalize it ($91.25). Take a look at this beauty with traditional New York orange and blue and a patriotic amount of red, white, and blue.

Here's how to order your America 250 plate online:

    • Start HERE
    • You must have a valid New York State registration that does not expire within 60 days.
    • If your registration expires within the next 60 days, renew your registration online before you order.
    • Your name and address must be up to date with DMV.
    • You must have a credit or debit card that DMV accepts and a valid email address for confirmation purposes.

You may also order your plate by phone from the Custom Plates Unit at 518-402-4838. If you prefer to order your plate by mail, use this Application for Custom Plates (PDF). Then mail the completed form and your payment to Custom Plates Unit, New York State DMV at P.O. Box 2775, Albany, NY 12220.
