The average price of gas in Upstate New York is down, but we shouldn't be celebrating.

If there is one thing I hate doing more than anything it is getting gas. You might as well just plan on throwing hundreds of dollars a month into the garbage or just burn it.

We've all been feeling that pain at the pump and with kids getting out of school and many trips planned we're hoping for a little bit of relief when it comes to gas prices. The good news? There is a bit of a dip in the price. The bad news? It's really not enough to get all that excited about.

The current price of gas in the Capital Region has dropped by 1 cent. Yes, one whole cent. Right now, according to WTEN, the average price is around $3.62 a gallon. It does seem to be coming down gradually from the average earlier in the month.

Obviously that all depends on where you are. Here are a few locations in the Capital Region with gas prices on the lower side.

  • Lukoil New Scotland Ave Albany - $3.52 a gallon
  • Stewart's New Scotland Ave  - $3.57 a gallon
  • USA Gas Fire Rd Clifton Park $3.49 a gallon
  • M&M Fuels Clifton Park Blvd $3.49 a gallon
  • Sunoco Nott St Schenectady $3.47 a gallon cash
  • Sunoco Erie Blvd Schenectady $3.43 a gallon cash
  • Stewart's West Ave Saratoga Springs $3.69 a gallon

You can search for the cheapest gas near you on Gas Buddy. Right now it looks like your cheapest bet to fill up is to pay cash and head to Schenectady.
