
Caught in the Act: 2 Arrested Following the Capital Region’s Latest Sting on Underage Drinking
Two Capital Region businesses charged with selling alcohol to persons under the age of 21.
Recently New York State Police conducted an underage drinking enforcement detail in Warren County. This initiative was designed to make certain that businesses that sell alcohol are obeying the law and NOT selling to minors. Out of 35 businesses checked, 2 were not in compliance.

According to a press release, the investigations conducted by New York State Police, businesses were checked by a Trooper in plainclothes, and one or several underage operatives who cannot lie about their age or provide a false date of birth.
This enforcement detail checked 35 businesses in Warrensburg, Lake George, Queensbury and Glens Falls. 2 people, one in Lake George and one in Queensbury, were charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the First degree, a class “A” misdemeanor, after selling alcohol to persons under the age of 21.
The following businesses were found to NOT be in compliance, under the New York Beverage Control Law Section 65, Prohibited Sale to Person Under the Age of 21.

- Food Mart - 474 Aviation Rd, Queensbury, NY
According to the law offices of Stephen Bilkis and Associates, the charge of Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the First degree occurs when an individual knowingly gives or sells alcoholic beverages to someone who is less than 21 years old.
Unlawful dealing with a child in the first degree is a class A misdemeanor. If you are convicted your sentence may include up to 1 year in jail, a probation term of 3 years, and a substantial fine.
