He may have been on his ninth pizza review of the day in the Capital Region, but that didn't keep Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy from saying he would never get tired of eating a Schenectady pizzeria's pie.

With Portnoy spending time in his new home in Saratoga Springs during the summer, he and the Barstool staff have been visiting local area pizza places, sampling slices as part of their One Bite Pizza Review series.

For his most recent installment of the pizza review video series, the term pleasantly surprised is probably an understatement.

Dave Portnoy Rates Pizza at Schenetady's Marino's Pizza & Restaurant Very Highly

Barstool Sports continued their invasion of the Schenectady, New York pizza scene with a recent stop at Marino's Pizza & Restaurant. Check out the review video below to see how the pizzeria fared:

Here were a few of the highlights of the video:

  • Portnoy remarked about the Red Sox paraphernalia on-display in Marino's, to which the owner replied that he was not a Red Sox fan, but rather a born-and-bred hater, and he loved to hate New York teams.
  • Two things caught Portnoy's eye right off the bat (he described them as the death and taxes of the pizza game): they are a cash-only business, and they do not open until 4PM.
  • After saying the pizza was good, he was impressed by the great crisp of the crust, and described his second slice as very flaky (a compliment).
  • After giving his score, he also complimented Marino's on their clean, fresh-cut salads that were available in the restaurant.
  • He said he'd never get tired of eating it.

Dave Portnoy has rated the pizza at Marino's a 7.6 out of 10, a very strong performance based on other Capital Region reviews done in 2023. If you want to sample the product for yourself, visit Marino's at 1301 State Street in Schenectady (see map below), or visit their website by clicking here.
