You Can Learn New York History While Helping Veterans Make A Movie
There is no doubt that the Hudson Valley and most of New York are rich in American History dating back to the Revolutionary War. Just about every town can boost that George Washington either rode through or slept there at some point.
If you haven't had a chance to dig into the rich history that surrounds us be sure to make it a point to find out more in 2024. Citys like Peekskill, Kingston, and Newburgh have historic spots that played key roles in the American war against the British. The chain across the Hudson River, The Battle of Fort Montgomery, and the fact that Kingston used to be the Capital of New York. All great places to start your history lesson.
Veterans Group Wants to Make a Film About the Revolutionary War in New York
I would venture to say that you could start reading about American history today that took place in New York in the 1700s and you wouldn't have even made a dent by 2025. Either way, it doesn't hurt to dive in with anything that might catch your interest.

I just heard about a film that is trying to get made that might be an interesting first history lesson. The film will be called Saratoga: The Turning Point. It is in its early stages of production. They are still trying to raise the money to make the pilot to get backers for the film.
Film Based on the Battle of Saratoga Looking for Funding
I came across it on Facebook last week and thought it looked like an interesting piece of New York history I didn't know a lot about. The goal of the filmmaker is to have it ready for the 250th anniversary of the battle which would be October 17th, 2027. Maybe do a little digging and if it interests you then you can find out more about the film.

What I can tell you is that it is an independent feature film project being done by a team of veterans, historians, and others. They have put a lot of time and energy into promoting their fundraiser on social media and they seem determined to get this film made.
