Letchworth State Park: One Of Upstate New York’s Greatest Wonders
New York State is filled with great public green spaces for its residents to enjoy. From small city and town parks, to the big ones, such as the Catskill Park and the Adirondack State Park, we have plenty of beauty to "get out to and enjoy."
This gallery shines the light on a park that really stands alone, though. Letchworth State Park sprawls over two counties and five towns in the Finger Lakes/Western New York region of Upstate New York. It covers 15,000 acres of public land, and is spilt down the middle by seven miles of the Genesee River.
The park is famed for its gorges, waterfalls, arch bridges, thick forest, and public amenities. It is known as "The Grand Canyon Of the East." Over one million visitors came to this part of the state to enjoy Letchworth in 2024.
And since then....
In 2025, USA Today newspaper polled its readership and declared that Letchworth State Park is the "#1 State Park in the United States!" That's big. Very big!
This gallery is really more of a photo journal of the park. Some information, some gorgeous photographs, and some of the history from its founding by William Pryor Letchworth more than a century ago up to today.
If you are looking for a summer bucket list item to top your list, we heartily endorse this park to be your #1.
