Devin Dawson is a dad!

The country singer-songwriter and his wife Leah Sykes welcomed their first child, a daughter named Iris Everlaine Durrett, in Nashville last Thursday (July 4.) Little Iris was born on Independence Day, and in his social media announcement, Dawson says his daughter made her grand arrival at 9:13 PM, "as the fireworks lit up the Nashville sky."

"Momma and baby are both doing well and to say I'm so proud of both is an understatement," he writes. "We are tired and happy and finding a rhythm and just so in awe."

Dawson will be taking "a few weeks" away from his music career in order to spend time with his growing family, adding that he hopes to "soak up every bit of this as much as I possibly can."

He shared three photos from Iris' first days of life in the hospital, including snapshots of the newborn with both her parents, and one adorable picture of her in her bassinet with a pink bow tied around her head.

Dawson and Sykes announced that they were expecting back in January, sharing some photos from their at-home maternity shoot, which featured their two dogs.

The couple got married in 2019 after first meeting as students at Nashville's Belmont University. They tied the knot at the historic Carnton Plantation in Franklin, Tenn., a venue they chose for its natural beauty and fall wedding potential.

Dawson rose to country music stardom in 2017 with the release of his hit song "All on Me." His debut album (and only studio album to date), Darkhorse, followed in 2018. He subsequently contributed a feature to Hardy's 2019 hit "One Beer" alongside Lauren Alaina, and he has found success as a writer for other artists, including Blake Shelton.

In late 2022, Dawson revealed that he was dealing with a vocal condition called dysphonia, which affects his ability to sing.
