Hocus Pocus is not only one of my favorite Halloween movies but it's one of my favorite movies in general. If you love it as much as I do, did you realize that you could visit where the movie filmed with just a quick road trip?

A few months ago, I wrote how the main house from Hocus Pocus is in Massachusetts and that you can go visit it. What I didn't realize is that a lot more of the set isn't too far from there either.

  1. Opening Scene & Thackery Binx's House: you can visit Salem's Pioneer Village and probably think it looks familiar. According to Distractify, this is where most of the opening scenes of the movie were filmed. They offer guided tours or you can explore on your own
  2. Max and Allison's School: the building is no longer a school but it used to be Phillips Elementary School. It's currently private property so you can't take a look inside without permission but pictures from the outside are fair game
  3. Allison's House: no word on if the Peabody Essex Museum hosts fancy Halloween parties, but it's actually a historic site that you can walk through.
  4. Cemetery Max Gets Bullied: probably no surprise that they didn't create a whole cemetery for one scene but if you wanted to relive Max getting his sneakers taken, you can visit Marblehead's Old Burial Hill Cemetery, which happens to be one of New England's oldest cemeteries
  5. Halloween Party: sing it if you know the words, you can "Put a Spell on (You)" at Salem's Old Town Hall and you have to assume you wouldn't be the first person to do so
