Historic Capital Region Restaurant To Reopen With New Owners
The list of restaurant openings in the greater Capital Region has been pretty long so far in 2023.
And that includes some old familiar haunts coming back to life like Casey's in Rensselaer and Basil & Wicks in North Creek. Now you can add a historic Capital Region restaurant to the reopening list. And the owner of another popular Capital Region dining institution is bringing the legendary eatery back to life.
I am pretty sure you are familiar with the local trio of Tipsy Moose locations. Over the years they have built a stellar reputation as great destinations for tasty eats and great beers with friends. They have become a local favorite in Latham, Troy, and Albany and one of the Moose co-owners, Rob Tario, is getting ready to bring back a Cohoes favorite.
Smtih's of Cohoes To Reopen This Summer
After shutting down during the pandemic, News 10 is reporting Tario will take over operating Smith's of Cohoes on Remsen Street with plans to reopen for dine-in and takeout sometime this coming summer. Some renovations are underway to spruce up the interior, and the legendary fireplace will remain operational! Developers tell News 10 the goal is to modernize Smith's while being respectful of its storied history that dates back to 1937.
If you are a foodie on any level, it is always exciting when a new restaurant opens locally. But when an old favorite finds new life? That is just a little extra special. It's like welcoming an old friend back into the neighborhood!
