Emotional Win For Martin Truex Jr. At Charlotte Motor Speedway

Martin Truex Jr.’s Victory Lane celebration was quite emotional.

Martin Truex Jr. took home the win on Sunday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Coke-a-Cola 600. Truex Jr. didn’t just win this race, he dominated it.  Out of the 400 laps, Truex Jr. lead 392 laps giving him a perfect driving record for the race.   This is the first win of the season for Truex Jr., bringing his career wins to 4.  His last win was at Pocano in June of 2015.   Almost every race so far this season, Truex Jr. has had a dominating car, but could not pull off the win…until Sunday.

Even with all of these incredible stats, the victory was made all the more emotional to NASCAR drivers and fans to see Truex Jr. and his girlfriend Sherry Pollex celebrating together.  Pollex has been struggling with cancer treatments, finishing her last round of Chemotherapy in January.  The entire NASCAR community of drivers, crew members, owners and fans have supported Pollex in her recovery, making this win emotional for everyone.   It’s rare to see a spouse or girlfriend being interviewed in a victory lane celebration, but this one was worth it.
