This Mother's Day weekend Ellms Family Farm in Ballston Spa is bringing back their drive-thru cider donut event for the 2nd straight year.

If there is one thing we learned during the pandemic, it's new creative ways to enjoy some local activities and destinations we know and love. Could one of those new, fun things turn into a post-pandemic tradition? Let's hope so! Because who doesn't love Ellms and some of their tasty cider donuts?

This Mother's Day weekend Ellms Family Farm will hold their 2nd Annual Apple Cider Donuts Drive-Thru and Scavenger Hunt Event. This Saturday and Sunday May 8th and 9th you can once again pre-schedule your pick-up time for cider donuts by the dozen and apple cider. In addition to the cider and the donuts, once you pick up your order, you can drive around the beautiful grounds of Ellms to participate in a scavenger hunt as you enjoy your sweet treats with the whole family.

Last year I took my family out for this event and it was a lot of fun. Any excuse to have cider donuts is a solid excuse in my book, but driving through the grounds at Ellms made it a lot more fun. It was really fun reliving Christmas tree-cutting excursions with the kids from years gone by. I am pretty sure  Scarlett and Emmett started their Christmas lists for Santa on that very trip last May!

You can reserve your tickets and see set your donut and cider time here, and get all the details about this year's event.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
