Darius Rucker Announces 2017 Darius and Friends Concert for St. Jude
Darius Rucker's eighth-annual Darius and Friends” benefit concert, a fundraiser for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, is set for June 5 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
The event leads into CMA Music Festival week, and 2017 marks the first time the concert will be held at the historic Ryman. Though this year’s special guests have yet to be announced, Rucker has invited names like Luke Bryan, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Charles Kelley and Kenny Rogers to the show.
“This concert is a real highlight for me every year,” Rucker says in a press release. “And I couldn’t do it without the support of my friends who turn out to perform, tell stories and make this a memorable night for the fans, who are here from around the world.”
The event has received an overwhelming response since its inception, with annual sellouts and an impressive $800,000-plus raised for St. Jude. Tickets to "Darius and Friends" will be available on April 14 at 10AM CT via Ticketmaster.
Rucker, originally known for his tenure as lead singer of ’90s rock act Hootie & the Blowfish, has carved out an impressive career as a country artist, charting 10 singles on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart including “Alright” and No. 1 country song “Wagon Wheel.” Rucker’s latest, “If I Told You,” is currently impacting country radio.
