A Clifton Park street was renamed over the weekend to honor John J. McKenna IV, a fallen Marine and state trooper who was killed by a sniper in Iraq in 2006.

Dozens, including American Legion members holding flags, gathered Sunday in Clifton Park, off Crescent Road for the unveiling of the sign for John J. McKenna IV Way, the Times Union reported.

McKenna was killed in Fallujah, Iraq in Aug. 2006. The 30-year-old was trying to save the life of another Marine when he was fatally shot by a sniper.

The military courtesy room at Albany Airport is also named for McKenna.
