Once again, Popeye's wins the head-to-head battle with Chick-Fil-A in the Capital Region.

It started with the head-to-head chicken sandwich battle a couple of years ago, and even though Popeye's makes a great chicken sandwich, they won by default here in the Capital Region because of our lack of easy Chick-Fil-A access. Now, amidst all of the Chick-Fil-A rumors in Halfmoon, it has been revealed Popeye's is planning a new location for the Clifton Park area! Popeye's 2, Chick-Fil-A 0.

On the heels of what looks like a joke and some 'Chick-FIl-A' is coming signs popping up at in Halfmoon at Lawrence Circle, their chicken nemesis IS getting ready to set up shop in pretty much the same location. According to Albany Business Review, plans were recently approved for a new Popeye's location on Route 146 between Autozone and A Pure Day Spa.

This one kind of fell under the radar with all the recent Chick-Fil-A back and forth online. We get some folks want a Chick-Fil-A but is it so good it warrants all the speculation and rumors being spread? In all honesty, Popeye's is a pretty sweet alternative to a Chick-Fil-A location in Halfmoon. Many feel Popeye's chicken is superior anyway! Specifically, those juicy chicken sandwiches. And hey, the best option is to always go local and support our great local chicken spots like Hattie's.

No details have been revealed when the new Popeye's will be built or when it will open, but in the meantime, you can still enjoy their chicken at their other Capital Region locations in Troy and Schenectady. Now that we clarified that, we can get to the next Chick-Fil-A rumor on Facebook.
