‘The Voice’ Winner Cassadee Pope to Be the Subject of New Reality Show
Cassadee Pope, the winner of Season 3 of 'The Voice' under Blake Shelton's expert tutelage, is returning to the small screen for another reality show.
No, the flame-haired and talented cutie is not competing or performing on 'American Idol' or 'X Factor.' As if! Instead, she is going to be the subject of her own documentary series on CMT.
The program, called 'The Cassadee Pope Project,' will follow the aspiring singer around, documenting her post-win efforts to launch her country music career.
Pope's ascent to stardom and her big win last December is certainly a Cinderella story and of interest, particularly due to the fact that she had previous music industry success fronting a pop-rock band called Hey Monday that was signed to Columbia, a major label.
Pope switched gears and found her sound and her, well, 'voice,' during her season on the show. When she headed down the country route with her performances, her take on twangy resonated with fans and helped her to win the show. Watching her navigate the country music scene and build her career should be fun.
"We think there's something really valuable about a first-person account of the process of becoming a country star," programming exec Jayson Dinsmore told the Hollywood Reporter about why the network went with a series dedicated to Pope. The series was developed internally.
The premiere and air dates of 'The Cassadee Pope Project' have yet to be announced, but we'll let you know when you can tune in and watch more of the show's starlet.
While the first two winners of 'The Voice' (Javier Colon and Jermaine Paul) have not exploded onto the music scene, Pope could very well be the show's first big superstar and have a Carrie Underwood-type career. She's due to tour with Rascal Flatts and the Band Perry on the 2013 Changed Tour.
