Burglary Suspect Found By Troy Police K-9
There’s an old saying that a dog is man’s best friend, but for one man in this case, maybe not so much.
44-year-old Shannon Lee Bruce from Troy was found hiding in a pile of clothes by Obie, a rookie police dog.
Bruce allegedly broke into a house in Troy where there was a young boy that was home by himself. According to the story in the Times Union, the boy saw him and called 9-1-1.
While he was allegedly trying to grab stuff to steal from the house, Bruce noticed that the boy spotted him. Bruce took off before Troy Police arrived.
That started a neighborhood search effort. Officer Craig Faby brought in his partner, Obie. The K-9 quickly picked up the scent of the burglar, which led police to another house in the neighborhood. The search through the neighborhood came to a halt at that house, where police saw a broken window. After a careful search continued inside the house, police discovered Bruce allegedly attempting to hide in a pile of clothes.
Bruce was arrested and charged with Attempted Grand Larceny, Second Degree Burglary, Resisting Arrest and others. According to police, Bruce was also wanted in an active warrant.
