It's that time of the year, when most of us like to head out and go to an Albany area farm stand and get our fresh fruits and vegetables. The weather forecast is calling for sunshine and temperatures in the 70s this coming weekend, which is Columbus Day weekend. You put these factors together and this will make a great weekend to go to an apple festival. This one is at Goolds Orchards in Castleton, just a few minutes travel time from downtown Albany.

I was at a few of their festivals in the past, and it's a great time for everyone.

Besides apple picking there's all kinds of great food available. They have a bakery with home made pies, and of course my favorite, cider doughnuts. To add a little more variety to the fun, GNA's Kevin Richards will be there on Sunday from noon - 2:00 p.m., hosting a country dance party.

Something just for the adults is the wine tasting in the Brookview Station Winery tent, with several New York State wineries. The festival is on Saturday and Sunday, and runs both days from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Why don't you pack up the family and go to the festival this weekend?
