I love this time of year for so many reasons. The main reason is the fresh produce at farm stands all over the Capital Region. Sure I love fresh tomatoes, green beans, peppers and cucumbers but there is nothing like local farm stand fresh sweet corn. Growing up in Mechanicville, we were surrounded by a bunch of local farms and farm stands. They were always along the back roads through Saratoga County. There were many times that we would just have fresh local sweet corn for dinner. I remember when I was older and first living on my own, I would buy a dozen ears of sweet corn, cook it all and eat the whole dozen over a couple of days.

Well I am happy to report that it is sweet corn season again. My favorite place to pick up sweet corn is of course in my hometown of Mechanicville. In the plaza, BJ's farm sets up a stand and has an abundance of sweet corn. This corn is so sweet and delicious, there are times you don't even need butter. Here's the thing though, you have to make sure you time it right because there is nothing worse than getting there when they've run out.

Where are your favorite local farm stand that you get your sweet corn from?
