They say once you get a tattoo, it becomes an addiction. You start to crave another and then another. Well, maybe that's what's happening to me? I'm not too sure.
It took me a while to come up with my first, because I like them to have meaning if I'm going to get one done. I think that goes for a lot of people, but I know plenty who just get something that looks cool to them, too.
For me, my first was in remembrance of my Grandmother. My Dads Mom passed away when I was just 8 years old after a battle with stomach cancer. She was like my second-Mom growing up. I was always with her, she was and still is my favorite. I knew I wanted something special and they say for anything, when it's right you'll just know.
It was around the time that Kelly Clarkson's 'Stronger' album was about to be released. She had this opportunity when you pre-ordered that you could put the name of someone within a special CD that would come with it, of who made you 'stronger'. Of course, my Grandmother was the first person to come to mind. Little did Kelly know, she was giving me the perfect tattoo idea.
I have gotten another, oddly enough, for my other grandmother, my Nana (who is also my favorite person.) My Nana has been through so much over the last 10-15 years, alone and since her husband passed we've only grown closer. In fact, she's become a little local celebrity with the stuff she's done with me on the radio over the years, which has been awesome. She's 100% Irish, so this one was for her.
Now, onto the next. I have the idea in mind and just didn't know where I should go. Naturally, I headed to Facebook and asked that very question. The responses were overwhelming, but after going through them all it was very evident that a few stood out more so than others.
