I received this email yesterday, and of course wanted to immediately see if we could in any way help. It's a touching story, and funds are desperately needed.
Authorities are reporting that a gas tanker has crashed on Route 7 in Hoosick and is on fire. This is all too familiar for residents of the area, as this same thing happened nearly two years ago in March 2011 - and it happened in almost exactly the same spot on NY Route 7, just beyond the junction of NY Route 22.
The Hoosick Falls Panthers have taken home their first ever state title for football when the Panthers beat Hornell at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse in the Class C finals with a score of 34 to 21.

New York State Police have arrested Becky Goodermote, from Hoosick Falls, after she allegedly left the scene of a hit and run accident in which a 39 year old Petersburgh man, Matthew Ratelle was substantially injured. Goodermote struck Ratelle from behind while riding his bicycle on NY Route 22. He remains in critical condition at Albany Medical Center. Initially police suspected texting was involved, but according to the charges filed, it was a much different cause.
The sad news we got earlier today about the death of Andy Griffith started a lively discussion around the station about how much we all loved The Andy Griffith Show and what our favorite moments and quotes were from the series. One of our staff members tweeted that "it's a sad day in Mayberry" and that got us thinking - out of all of the awesome small towns in our GNA community, which town is the most like Mayberry?
