The nominees for the 2011 American Music Awards were announced yesterday.  That’s of course the award show for all of the year’s biggest music stars, including country artists. Taylor Swift is up against some pop and R&B singers for Artist of the Year.  Thompson Square and The Band Perry were nominated for “Sprint New Artist of the Year” and will also be up against artists from other types of music.  The AMAs air November 20th at 8pm on ABC.  Remember, you can vote at their website.

And speaking of Taylor, Billboard has named her “Woman of the Year.”  She is the youngest artist to receive the honor, which will be acknowledged on December 2nd in New York City, at Billboard’s Women in Music event.  Taylor’s numerous platinum albums, sold-out tours, armloads of awards and long list of hit singles, of course, contributed to the title.

LeAnn Rimes is considering a career in fashion.  She spent some time last month at the famed “Fashion Week” in New York City.  She joked with CountryMusicIsLove, that if she did decide to go into fashion, she’d create a swimwear line because afterall, that’s what all anyone thinks she wears anyway.
