One thing that almost always catches my eye is when I see something about the repurposing of things, especially old buildings.

This time, it’s a landmark building on the corner of Congress Street and Fourth Street in Troy. The former Trojan Hardware building is the home of a new business, and a business that's almost ready to open. Trojan Hardware closed up shop in 2009, after 94 years.

The owner of the one business is Kevin Blodgett. He’s calling the one business The Shop. It's new bar which features some of the decor of yard sticks for wall decorations, some old tools that were found in the basement which will be used as beer taps and some other shop-appropriate decor.

Another part of the building is being leased to Kevin Mullen. His business, called Rare Form Brewing Company, which has been up and running since May. Some of his craft beers are also being distributed to other bars around New York State.

According to a story from WNYT, Blodgett is planning to open his business by the end of October.
