Get your tackle together and pick up some bait: New York's first free fishing days of the year are here!

It has become a yearly tradition in New York: free fishing days when you can hit the lakes and streams to cast away without a fishing license. This weekend, our first 2 free fishing days of 2017 are here. This Saturday and Sunday February 18 and 19 you can fish to your hearts delight without a license.

If you can't get out for a little ice fishing this weekend, or if getting out on the ice isn't you thing, you can also take advantage of free fishing days June 24 and 25, September 23 (National Hunting and Fishing Day) and November 11 (Veteran’s Day).
