Joey Logano wins the first leg of the second round of the chase and guarantees a place in the top 8!

Logano beat out Kevin Harvick to take the checkered flag at Charlotte Motor Speedway Sunday. It’s strange because each of Logano’s wins, comes with a Harvick second place finish!  Marin Tuuex Jr., Denny Hamlin and Kurt Busch rounded out the top 5 finishes in Sunday’s race.

There were some other notable moments in the race this past weekend –

Matt Kenseth Geico 400

Matt Kenseth missed his pit stall and fell back to 20th on a restart. He made contact with Ryan Newman and hit the wall. Then, Kenseth had to serve a penalty for too many crewmen working on his car. He ended the day again hitting the wall after a piece on his car broke. He’s currently last in the Chase.

Carl Edwards and Dale Earnhardt Jr. collided sending Earnhardt into the wall. Earnhardt then encountered a tire issue put him into the wall again. He wound up 28th for the day and like Kenseth, is at the bottom of the list of Chase drivers.

Most heartbreaking for me, Jimmie Johnson who was eliminated from the Chase last week (which is still hard for me talk about),  is still having some issues with bad luck on the track. The #48 had mechanical issues that could not be fixed, he finished 39th and went home early.
