March Madness Is Coming Back To Albany
The Times Union Center has announced the NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament is coming back to Albany.
According to the Times Union, first and second round games will be played at the renovated TUC March 19 – 22, 2020. If you are a hoops fan, this is huge news as the men’s tournament has not held games in Albany since 2003. The arena is also scheduled to host women’s tournament games in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
As I did a little pub crawl in Saratoga this year with some friends to watch March Madness on opening weekend, I actually thought to myself how cool it would be to have the tournament back here in our hometown. And as big as the Final Four is, I don’t think anything beats the excitement of that first weekend of games. The match-ups, the upsets and all those busted brackets make it alot of fun.
TUCenter officials told the Times Union they believe the recent renovations, the new convention center as well as the new Renaissance Hotel all contributed to the tournament coming back to Albany.
